U.S. Military Intercepts 2 Russian Bombers Just Off The Coast Of Alaska

#IJHTMYT 05:46PM ET BREAKING – The United States military has confirmed that they have intercepted two Russian bombers in International airspace just off the coast of Alaska.

Pentagon spokesman and Navy Commander Gary Ross stated that a pair of F-22 Raptor aircraft intercepted the two Russian TU-95 Bear bombers.

Ross stated that the interception was “safe and professional.”

North American Aerospace Defense Command monitors all air approaches to North America, and of course defends its entire airspace.

Fox News has also reported that the Russian planes flew within 100 miles (160 kilometers) of Alaska’s Kodiak Island.

This article will be updated as soon as more concrete and confirmed information arises.

UPDATE: 08:23PM ET – US aircraft did in fact escort the two Russian bombers for approximately 12 minutes, just off of Alaska’s coast, then the bombers bailed and began to head towards Eastern Russia.
